Hi! I’m Jennifer Dahlen
…wife, and mother to seven loveable children who have gone from infant to teen to graduate to out-on-their-own faster than a mom can say, “Where has the time gone?” Among them, we have two adopted foster kids and a set of identical twins. In recent years, we’ve added several equally-as-loveable sons and daughters-in-law, and a precious collection of grandchildren. And we’re just getting started.
I’ve spent most of my life in Oregon, and believe that the moderate climate—yes, even the clouds and rain, which give way to green grass and trees, snow-topped mountains, and wave- lapped beaches make it just about the perfect place on earth. I reside in Portland with my amazing husband, where I write in between hefty doses of grandkid therapy. I’ve had articles published in TWINS Magazine, and won a short story contest with Writer’s Digest in 2007.
I am currently working on a Women’s Contemporary Christian Fiction novel about a preacher’s daughter who struggles with her faith when she sees the failings of her father, in the midst of a small town murder. As a preacher’s daughter myself, I loved growing up in the church and learned under my dad’s Bible teaching. He was a good dad, but he was not perfect. At times I struggled with my view of God in light of my father’s shortcomings. Now, as a parent myself, I’ve learned that none of us can perfectly reflect God, rather, we hope to emulate his grace in our lives. This novel is not my story, but it does reflect a common struggle of those searching for truth. If you’ve ever questioned Christianity because of the failure of Christians, this book might just be for you.
In my spare time I enjoy running, camping, and listening to Christian podcasts. I’ll share more about myself as time goes on. Feel free to drop me a line and tell me about you. You can send me a message through the contact page. And don’t forget to subscribe so you can stay up-to-date on my latest blog posts.
